The Lies We Tell Ourselves: Choosing Your Illusion
The Lies We Tell Ourselves: Choosing Your Illusion
What if I told you that every thought you have about yourself, every label, every limit, every story—is a lie? What if everything you’ve believed about who you are and what you can or cannot do is simply an illusion?
Think about it: we’re all made from Source energy, what I call “zero-point energy”—a black hole of pure potential, the infinite creative essence from which everything is born. This energy is limitless, both everything and nothing all at once. When we step into this life, we take on an identity, a form, a personality, all based on what our soul has chosen to experience in this incarnation. But remember, this identity, whether we perceive it as “good” or “bad,” is just that: a choice, a temporary experience. Yoga calls this Maya, the veil, the grand illusion that makes us believe we’re only our bodies, our names, our pasts, our strengths our weakness
The thing is you’re a soul and therefore you are none of it and you are all of it, simultaneously. And as that pure potential you get to choose the constructs that define you……… you can begin to decide: What kind of story do I want to tell myself?
And here’s where it gets interesting. Imagine standing at a crossroads in your mind. On one path, you tell yourself the same old stories of lack and limitation: I’m not good enough. I’m not strong. I’ll never be wealthy. I don’t have good health. I don’t have the right relationships. I’ll never reach my goals. These thoughts are familiar, like old, worn-out clothing that we keep putting on even though they no longer fit.
But then there’s the other path, the one that opens you up to the incredible potential you hold. On this path, you choose to believe the illusion that lifts you, that supports your soul’s highest purpose: I am powerful. I am abundant. I am creative. I am capable. I am supported in every way. Everything is working out for my highest good. I am at peace. I am free.
It’s as if your soul decided to put on a costume for this lifetime, a unique persona to experience a certain role, a particular journey. But somewhere along the way, many of us have started believing that the costume is who we really are. We’ve forgotten that it’s a role we’re playing, and now we feel stuck in the confines of this identity.
Think about it like putting on a clown costume. Maybe you put it on to explore what it feels like to be a clown, to engage in a certain way with the world. But if wearing that costume becomes uncomfortable or limiting, you have the power to take it off or change it. The costume is not “you”; it’s a temporary experience. The problem arises when you believe it’s all you are.
The same goes for the thoughts that arise with this identity—the fears, the insecurities, the “I’m not enough” stories. They’re not truths; they’re thoughts that align with a temporary costume, an illusion. And once you see them as illusions, as lies, you can choose a new set of illusions, a new set of beliefs that help you experience life in a way that’s aligned with your soul’s highest calling.
So, I challenge you to start consciously choosing the illusions that empower you, that resonate with your true potential, that open doors instead of close them. You can tell yourself the story that you’re limited, weak, incapable—or you can tell yourself the story that you are wise, that you are capable, that you are loved and supported, that you’re on the path meant for you. Because even if these beliefs are also illusions, they’re illusions that serve your growth, your peace, and your joy.
This is your journey, your experience, your playground of choices. You are zero-point energy—a pure, divine spark in motion. So go ahead, choose the stories that bring you joy and freedom. Choose the thoughts that reflect your limitless nature, and live in the illusion that you are whole, abundant, and powerful. After all, if you’re going to live within an illusion, it might as well be one that lights you up from the inside.
Embrace the Maya, but let it be a Maya that you create consciously, a set of beliefs that aligns with who you truly are at your core: an infinite being with the power to shape your own experience.
