Why Sage Can Only do so Much! Understanding How You’re Permitting Negative Energy to Affect Your Aura

Have you ever walked into a space or encountered someone and felt an immediate, heavy shift in your energy? Maybe you’ve come home from such an experience feeling drained, like you need to reset, cleanse, or pray to shake it off. This phenomenon is often misunderstood as purely external—a dense, negative energy from someone else or a place “attaching” to you. But in reality, the reason these energies can affect us lies within our own psyche.

The Hooking Point Within

Energy resonates on frequencies, and for an external energy to influence you, there must be an internal point of attraction—or a “hooking point”—within you that vibrates on the same frequency as the external energy. These hooking points often stem from unresolved aspects of our own shadow self.

The shadow self is made up of the parts of us we’ve judged, rejected, or suppressed. These might include unprocessed emotions, trauma, or character traits that developed as a result of these experiences. When we encounter someone projecting dense energy—like jealousy, anger, or resentment—that energy can “stick” because it resonates with a shadow aspect we haven’t yet acknowledged or integrated.

Take jealousy as an example. If someone looks at you with envy, projecting a heavy energy your way, and you feel affected, it’s often because there’s an unresolved thread of jealousy within your own psyche. This doesn’t mean you’re actively jealous of someone else, but rather that the energy of jealousy exists somewhere in your unprocessed shadow.

Why Cleansing Feels Necessary

Cleansing rituals—whether through sage, palo santo, camphor, blue anil,

or other energetic tools—work because they help clear not only the external energy but also temporarily disrupt the internal resonance that allows such energies to attach in the first place. However, these cleansings are not permanent solutions.

Energy is always in motion, and your thoughts, emotions, and energetic baseline ultimately determine how long the cleansing lasts. If the shadow aspect that created the “hooking point” remains unresolved, the external energy will likely attach again the next time you encounter a similar frequency.

The Gift of Awareness

While it may feel uncomfortable to be affected by negative energy, this experience is also a gift. It illuminates parts of your inner world that need healing and transformation. The external energy isn’t just a burden; it’s a mirror reflecting something within you that is ready to come into your awareness.

For example, if jealousy/evil eye from others continues to affect you, it’s an invitation to explore your relationship with that emotion. Where in your life have you felt jealousy? Have you judged yourself for it, pushed it away, or ignored it? By bringing compassion and understanding to that shadow aspect, you can begin the process of integration, transmuting its energy into something lighter and more harmonious.

Transmuting the Shadow

Transmutation is the alchemical process of shifting dense, heavy energies into higher frequencies. To do this, you need to:

1. Acknowledge the Shadow: Recognize and name the emotion or trait that creates the hooking point. Be honest with yourself without judgment.

2. Understand Its Origins: Reflect on where this energy stems from. Was it a result of childhood trauma, societal conditioning, or unmet needs?

3. Show Compassion: Instead of rejecting this part of yourself, approach it with love and understanding. The shadow is not your enemy; it’s a wounded part of you that needs healing.

4. Release Judgment: Let go of the idea that certain emotions or traits make you “bad” or “unworthy.” By accepting all parts of yourself, you reduce the energetic friction within.

5. Raise Your Vibration: Engage in practices that uplift your energy, such as meditation, breathwork, sound healing, or gratitude journaling. These practices help you maintain a higher frequency where lower energies cannot attach.

The Long-Term Effect

When you resolve the internal hooking point, external energies lose their ability to affect you. This doesn’t mean that negativity won’t come your way—it will, as part of the natural flow of life. However, it won’t stick to you. Imagine your aura as a smooth, impenetrable surface where heavy energies simply slide off, unable to find a place to embed themselves.

This shift occurs because you are no longer an energetic match for those frequencies. Negative projections are repelled by your higher vibration, and you remain unaffected. Over time, you’ll notice fewer and fewer instances of feeling drained or needing to cleanse because your inner world has become aligned and resilient.

Empowering Yourself

While cleansing tools and rituals can provide relief and support, true freedom from external negativity lies in the inner work. By addressing and integrating the shadow aspects of yourself, you take back your power. You no longer rely solely on external tools to reset your energy but instead cultivate a state of being that naturally repels negativity.

This journey requires patience and self-awareness, but it is deeply empowering. The next time you feel affected by someone’s energy or a heavy environment, ask yourself: What is this teaching me about myself? Use the experience as an opportunity for growth, healing, and transformation.

In doing so, you not only protect your energy but also step into a higher version of yourself—one that is untouchable by negativity and aligned with the light of your true essence.

Cheers,

Sierra
